Find your voice.

__________

Months ago, I found this very creative art form by Austin Kleon, a writer and artist from Texas. It is called Newspaper Blackout poetry. All you have to do is take the daily paper and find a poem hidden among words, lines and spaces. Challenging yet so much fun, that is what it is. And I'm glad I finally tried it.

  1. love it.. very similar to collage, but done with a dark marker instead of scissors.

    1. Much more difficult in comparison to a collage because in a collage you can use multiple sources and write anything you want. In this you have to make do with what you have in that paragraph.

    2. very true, Divyank, because even when we limit our source materials for a collage, as i do, we still have the opportunity to rearrange the juxaposition of the words and images we select....with this art form, one has no such opportunity, you have to take the order that's given to you, and find your poem within it...

    3. Yes, it is a lot more difficult but also very engaging, like a treasure hunt. :)

      Thank you!

    1. Yes, it's a very old concept. Probably around 200 years old but has become a lot more famous with the onset of social networking sites.
