6 bullets yada yada

  • The new domain www.cometmuse.com is up and working almost fine. It feels great to work on a full-fledged personal website like I'm doing something serious and important, but I'm not. Yay me!
  • Why comet muse, because the name resonated with me and my style of writing. No poetic meaning behind, it is what it is. Just felt so right and there cannot be any better reason than that.
  • Started a secondary blog on Tumblr. I think it is important for me to remind myself that I'm not as pathetic as I think. Therefore, Tumblr is only for sharing my personal favorite pieces from this blog. So if you're on Tumblr, drop in some day. I'd love to connect.
  • 2015 was officially my poetry reading year. I discovered some beautiful contemporary poets like Nayyirah Waheed, R.M Drake and their work has been an amazing source of inspiration. Honestly, they are the poets who kept me sane throughout the year and therefore, deserve a special mention and a special photo too.
Nayyirah Waheed
  • I don't have any plans for twenty sixteen and surprisingly, I'm not freaking out. Is this what growing up feels like?
  • Lastly, I am proud to grow into a person who is always the first to forgive and forget. Things become simpler if you just declutter your life and there is no better way than forgiveness. So in case you've been a bitch to me (not you, you are cute), I forgive you because I know you are still growing up.

A very important P.S: My new active email id is cometmuseblog@gmail.com. Let's share some emails, stories and secrets and keep it only between us, okay?

Also, what do you think about this new change?

The Hey Guy.

I have been wanting to write about a person since many months. It happens every time I hear from him but it slips out of my mind the very next day.
Having been a part of the Facebook world, I have observed that there are usually three kinds of people who appear online on messenger.
  1. Those who see your message and go offline immediately.
  2. Those who see your message, remain online and choose to ignore you anyway.
  3. Those who open a small chat with you once in a while.
  4. And then there is this person. Let's call him Mr. X.

Guilty of all of the above mentioned situations, except of course the 4th point.

Mr. X was my classmate in high school. Not a friend, just classmate, like the ones who do not even fall in the category of acquaintances because you know only their names. Never talk to them, never hear their voice.. only their names!

Years ago, I removed him from my friend list for some reason which I gradually forgot. After many months later when I received his request again, I added him and went on with my life. But oh dear god, this guy soon made me realize why I removed him in the first place.

I rarely go online on Facebook because I am not much of a social person. But whenever I go, Mr. X pings me 'Hey'.
Just that!

I see his message and go offline or I see his message and ignore him bluntly, yet he doesn't deter. It's been two years and the trend has continued. I look at the chat history and there is nothing but a series of 'Hey' messages lined up from his side.

It is harmless but at the same time, it is extremely irritating. Like water leaking from the ceiling of your room, drop by drop, testing your patience in every fifty seconds while you sit there cursing it to stop because you just cannot fix it by yourself.

I am extremely curious to know why the hell he is acting like a freak who has no life but there is a part of me which is scared because I don't know what it might stir in the head of an already creepy guy or it might bring down the wall covering some greater menace. So I think I'm just going to wait for him to disappear into oblivion. And that my dear friend, is the master plan.

Just stay,
be silent.
The world seems a better place with you.

Watching you with a playful smirk
as you keep your pretty mouth shut.
It's wild. I can make you do what no one else can.

27th of December it is.

Semester exams got over today. I am through with the 7th semester of Law (Still three more to go..gosh!) And also with the Game of Thrones. Yes, I finished all three seasons during my end semester exams, that is how gripping it is.
I don't like gore. I don't like excessive violence. I don't like to watch trauma or an hour long episodes, yet I finished it within two weeks. No wonder I have blind faith in the rating of imdb. However, I strongly believe it is no less then a sin to make the viewer wait for so long before the next season is aired and create a whole ambiance of unwanted suspense. I so want to know what happens next, right now! Ugh.
Perhaps this is one of the main reasons why novels are better than movies or serials.

Well, it is not going to give me any peace at the moment. But what might give me some peace is the fact that it is 27th of December again. I love, adore, cherish this date like hell. It is and shall always be super close to my heart. A little too sentimental na! Let's keep mum now.

Okay, I'm done blabbering.

Goodnight!

Randomness in Six Bullets

  • The big hullabaloo of elections in my city ended on a very apprehensive note. Though on one side, I thoroughly enjoyed watching our very dear Sheila Dixit wear a glum face and utter 'Hum to bevakoof hain na', the nail biting competition between BJP and AAP did not come to clear end. It is hard to bear the curiosity any further, which is why I feel a little frustrated.
  • Remember a year ago, I wrote about one of my classmates getting married? Well, the O-Em-Gee news is that she gave birth to a baby boy, a couple of days back. Extremely fertile, no doubt and I remember one of my blogger friends warned me of this day. I had never thought it would arrive so soon. My classmate!!! She is married and a mother of a boy. A mother, I repeat. And I am just Twenty One.
  • How do you respond when one fine day you open your Facebook account and find 78 notifications from an acquaintance who has liked raided your profile and albums completely??? #creep >.<
  • The Supreme Court has highly disheartened me and many of my fellow Indians today. It was nothing less than a shock to read about the latest judgement which has criminalized homosexuality. What in the world is wrong with the Apex Court?? It's such a shame that in my country marital rape is legal while consensual sex between two adult homosexuals is not.
  • Coming back to the virtual world, I don't know why most people on Facebook are so engrossed in making their personal comic strips which is nowhere near to being hilarious. I don't think it is too hard to understand for a man of average intelligence, how lame these Bitstrips are. I'm being cynical, yes and I like it.
  • I have started watching the series 'Game of Thrones'. Wanted to know what the fuss was all about and also because imdb has rated it 9.4. So far it has kept my interest intact.

Moonglade

The last lingering
breath of the night
ruffles through
my cascading hair,
carrying the scent of
waters and cold sand.

You nudge me,
on the shoulder
and break my trance

To bid goodbye
to moon glade
as the dawn
gradually devours.

August to Me: In a Nutshell.

I wanted to write about so many things which happened in the month of August: how beautiful it was, the dark clouds, the happy hair days, the good health and workout sessions and how I looked forward to feel the monsoon kisses every day. But sadly, the month ended up giving me a very disgusting and severe skin infection. It wrested my confidence and grounded me within the four walls. Though the receding phase has begun, the risk has of it getting worse has not subsided and I'm yet to discover my pretty old self again. Uh...how badly I miss my geeky face.

Anyhow, this post is not about the disease. This is about the things I wanted to share on Mirage, a week back.  A little late I am and it is September, already. Gosh, we are in the 9th month of the year. Where was I  during the whole time?

Busy growing up, probably.
________

  • After yearning for months, I finally purchased a charming dream catcher with sea green feathers. For those who are not aware of what a dream catcher is, let me give a brief insight. It is a handmade object adorned with a thread in a web like form along with some beads and feathers. As per the Native Americans, the night air is filled with dreams both good and bad. The purpose of a dream catcher is to trap the bad ones in the web and filter down the good and happy dreams through the feathers, to the sleeper. Since, I have a strong connection with chasing dreams of all kinds (from serial killers to savages) I dearly needed it. Also, because it is such a beautiful thing. Here, have a look:

(This is not mine, but yeah you got an idea, right?)

  • One fine day in August, I decided to give my room a fresh look. And this is what I did:
(Creative much, eh!)

(Oh and this too)

  • My dearest brother gifted me a brand new sexy DKNY watch this Rakshabandhan. Eeeeeeeshk!
  • Oh and I bought a pair of 3kg dumbbells. I'm gonna be a strong and pretty lady soon. ^.^
  • It's been more than a month since I earned my first pay check, and I have not yet thought of anything to splurge on. Damn! There are nth number of things which makes me greedy and still I always end up with nothing. Suggestions please. (No party-with-friends suggestions accepted)
  • Hey, I got published AGAIN!!!! The good part is that the magazine shall give away a surprise gift to each published entry. Eeeeeeeshk! Guess, I should make a new page for the whole list of my published work. xD
  • This reminds me of a very important news. One of my blogger friends Phatichar (Sadly, this is what he calls himself in the blog world.) got his own book of spooky tales published by none other than THE Harper Collins publishers. Can you believe it! =)  I have ordered my copy and you guys must do it too. Right now! Here is the link which will help you: Frankly Spooking.
  • Lastly, a Statutory Warning: Do not watch The Conjuring. Period.

Until next time..
Take care dear you!

Keep Calm and Hakuna Matata.

Now that I'm through with my semester exams, I should optimally utilize the three-four days that I have. Yes, we don't get any semester break.

=|

Here is the plan of action:

  • Start exercising.
  • Shop online.
  • Snuggle more in the cozy blanket as winter has begun retreating.
  • Learn new words.
  • Clean the room. And bury every trace of course books somewhere deep.
  • Enjoy being idol and remember the days I dearly wished I'd nothing to do except relax.
  • And lastly, dance with a straight face.

Speak Music to Me and I Will be Your Symphony.

The other day at court, while I was waiting for the proceedings to begin, I indulged in a random conversation with my co-intern. Like always, we had plenty of spare time to look around and wonder how hard it is to pursue a career in litigation. But it was music that we talked about, instead. He asked me about my taste. No, actually before that he asked me whether I listen to music at all. You tell me..do I look like a person who doesn’t listen to music? Duh! So the first name that popped up in my head was that of Coldplay. If you haven’t heard Coldplay, go stand in front of the mirror, introspect for a minute and die. That is what a voice in my head yelled when he asked Coldplay? Is that a band?

Wait...the story didn’t end there. He was alien to every other song I mentioned. After giving him a dumbstruck look I shot the same question at him. It was heart-breaking to listen to a list which included crappiest songs and artists- Akon, Enrique, Pitbull, 50 Cent, Chammak Challo, Honey Singh and in support of which he said ‘Ajkal ke youth ko yehi pasand hai.’ (Today’s youth enjoy this music). But where is the 'music', I wondered. At that very moment, an entirely new side of me came to light. I felt so repulsed by him. It was like a stream of repulsion that was flowing out of his mouth as he spoke of those names. Over dramatic? Am I? Oh c’mon, he disliked Coldplay’s ‘Fix you’.

Still over-dramatic?

I narrated this hopelessly sad incident to a friend who has an impressive choice in this field and he just smiled. For he told me that he has felt the same with many and it doesn’t bother him anymore.

Just like what wise people teach, you grow with time. You evolve with time. You learn to absorb shocks like these with time.

For now, I have got this song which I stumbled upon my song hunting spree last night and the night before. Did I tell you that youtube has a side where every song on the side panel is totally new and it takes you on a  roller coaster ride? People there call it 'YouTube Narnia'. :D

Listen and appreciate quality music:

Chuck The Title, Read The Post!

Okay, Fine! I know it is a lame heading. Like very lame. But I could not think of a better one. My creative cells have taken a temporary off, actually. Please bear with my lameness and randomness friends. Yours faithfully, Vinati. :)

So the quick update for today is that for the first time EVER in my whole goddamn life which means nineteen years to be specific, I baked a cake. Occasion : It's my mumma's birthday. And I wanted to give her the biggest shock surprise of her life. I mean something which could make her go head over heels and leave her jaw-dropped and eyes popped out with that super cute dumbstruck expression. And what could be a better than me making something for her with my very own hands.

Aah! That look. *priceless* =]

And accordingly, I hereby submit a photo of the super delicious and finger hand licking cake with the sole purpose of flaunting. ^_^

(I would like to take the opportunity to thank my neighbor under whose guidance and in whose kitchen I churned my cooking skills.)

To this, my brother said "Don't you love her? How could you give her something to eat which you have made with your own hands?"
Huh. Brothers will be be brothers...by god. :|

I Soar High With My Threaded Wings.

Sprinkle it on the greyed path.
Sprinkle it on the days I gloom and on the dreams undreamt.
Merge some of it with the crimson flow in my veins...make it go deep in my body.
For I desire only a bucket of rainbow to outshine the world.

I Can Talk of Anything and Everything.

Yeah, the title says it all. Actually, I have nothing special to share with you all today. Well, I know I'm a bore...and trust me, it's good to be one, sometimes though. ;)
Anyway, I just finished watching a movie..In Bruges. It was quite different. Dark Humour, as you call it. I don't usually watch such movies but I did because I had to. And I know, it doesn't make any sense. Right??? Uhh...never mind!!

So, about the movie, there were certain scenes where I had no idea whether I was supposed to to feel sad at the gravity of the situation or laugh at the serious yet unusually portrayed action. My emotions got confused and I ended up being neutral. Hmm...I know...silly me!! But on a whole, it was a good time pass. You can watch it if, like me, you have got nothing else to do and of course, if you want to have a good taste of dark humour.

Now to get over the tempo of the movie, I think the windy weather would help me. I just heard the *bang* of a door in the next room so I should better run outside (in my balcony, I mean) and enjoy the night. =)

Take care, folks!

P.S: And I hate the recently famous Chinese artificial and solar-powered plants that I see in almost every car of Delhi. It irks me to death. I mean, what relief do people get by looking at those constantly popping and dancing leaves in the middle of a traffic jam and that too on a scorching summer afternoon??? Well, I know it was completely out of topic. But as I said, I can talk of anything and everything. Ha.. :P :D

And She Lived..

She saw the curtains in her room sway. Those pale blue pieces of cloth with white beautiful flowers adorned by the small window in her room, rocked slowly. It was dark and silent. She was trying to sleep but just could not. Her mind was pre-occupied with the anxiety because of all the complications which might occur during the course of her surgery (as the doctor had said).

She was uneasy. And what diverted her attention from this fretfulness was a big thunder sound. She looked at her window and saw lightening flash every few seconds. But being pretty tired, she turned her back and continued struggling with her thoughts. Seconds later, the thunderous roar was there again...like it was calling her name, asking her to put her feet forward, keep her worries aside and just live by the moment. And that moment was there, rather HER moment was there. As she always believed that only ONE right moment is required to make you feel that you can break the chain, break the bonds, look beyond the closed boundaries, chase the horizons of your mind and take a step ahead.

She removed her blanket, stood up, opened the door of her balcony and took a deep breath filled with the smell of wet earth. Oh...there was surely some kind of drowsiness in the way serene breeze ruffled through her hair!

She smiled. She hummed, stretched her arms, shut her eyes and went a step forward.  All her qualms had taken the back seat. The weather veneered the cloud of negativities in her life. She forgot her sickness, her surgery, her minimal chances of survival and that she might have only a few more months. She was deeply lost in the aura. She could feel the lightness in the drops pouring on her palms. She danced to the music played by the trees, by the zephyr, by the dark ghostly and thunderous sound and by the whole amazingly fresh environment. She felt alive and peaceful cause at that particular moment... she LIVED.

Our only wish..!!

Come, let's reach out the horizon
Let's unfurl the curtains of a new life
Let's color the big blue canvas
Cause baby it's more than a veiled desire
It's deeper than the engraved thoughts
It's real and it's beautiful
It's not about you and not about me
But about the dreams we've shared
About the paths we've made
And our only wish.
